Batten down the hatches, it’s The Hipshakes!
Manchester’s premier punks have returned, all set to release their illustrious fourth album ‘Snake‘ through Art For Blind Records on the 29th April. It follows their Wax Albums of the Year-listed ‘Maximum Growth and Vigour‘ and headline set at our second birthday show – it had us all twisting for twelve months in preparation, so we can’t say they didn’t warn us.
The band have now released the first uncompromising taste of ‘Snake‘, in two minutes of gutter n’ roll with ‘Unforgiven Eyes‘. The video is premiering here at Wax Music, which you can watch below.
The shakes remain as vital and wild as they ever were in their decade as a band, becoming increasingly clever at keeping things short and sharp with a swift hook and a snarling solo. ‘Unforgiven Eyes‘ offers a leaner, somehow even more raucous cut from their cloth – straight off the cuff guitar rollicks through two minutes of intense punk. Andrew Anderson is as unequivocal and uninhabited as ever, the off-kilter chords and his compelled delivery are a match made in r’n’r heaven.
To celebrate the release of ‘Snake‘, the band are playing a record store day show (16th April) at The Ruby Lounge in Manchester – tickets are available here. ‘Snake‘ is now available to pre-order at Art For Blind’s bandcamp.
