Park Motive have had a pretty successful run of it of late. Having treated us to the subtle charms of new single ‘In Movies’ earlier in the year, the group have whipped up a whole load of excitement with their live shows, headlining Spinny Nights’ big events at The Windmill in London and their hometown of Bristol and attracting sold-out crowds. That paid off in spades, as they were announced as winners of Green Man Rising, the annual competition to open Green Man Festival on the main stage and impressing industry heads at NME and Moshi Moshi In the process. Now prepping for their biggest show yet, the band have collaborated with their friends at Spinny Nights to share a new video for their aforementioned track ‘In Movies’.
Casually cycling around the summer hot spots and parks of Bristol while attempting to perform the single, the video goes on to tell an impressionistic story of late nights at corner shops and underwhelming house parties, fitting the lustful, possessive nature of the lyricism that snakes into the minimal, whirling electronica of the track. As swirling lights pierce the darkness of a lonely night, it raises anxious feelings, like not finding that one person you want to see as a big night draws to an end. ‘In Movies’ displays the group’s ability to transcend any sense of time and allow you to get lost in their smooth, evocative sound.
Watch the video for ‘In Movies’ below. Park Motive are set to play two sets at Green Man Festival, Friday 17th on the Mountain Stage and Sunday 19th on the Rising Stage.
