Memorials of Distinction, one of our favourite homegrown labels from Brighton, have released a new cassette compilation titled ‘Sentimental Journey’.

Describing the release as being “full to the brim with the best contemporary underground pop music attainable“, the label have brought together a host of different names to appear, including Jake Rollins, the swaying beat-pop of Brighton’s SUEP and bruising melancholia from New York’s Brain Wader. Overall, it’s a fine taste of eclectic pop.

Rollins’ track in particular weighs emotionally heavy, ‘Figure It Out‘ a driven reminder of the need to enjoy life through all it’s confusion and uncertainty. The track is worth it’s weight in tenderness, and comes to define the pensive nature of the whole release.
