Following on from their 2023 single release ‘Suffer’, two-time Irish Album of The Year nominees, Pillow Queens, come back with an even heavier, grungier sound with their new single ‘Gone.’
Formed in 2016, the band have wowed so far with two successful albums, In Waiting and Leave the Light On. Ahead of their third album, Name Your Sorrow, comes ‘Gone,’ which explores the feeling of not being a priority.
‘Gone’ hits the ground running with a heavy and solid drum beat with an atmospheric, fuzzed guitar riff that gives grit and melancholy. This matched with the mid-range vocals, which is brooding and moody, bring home the feeling of not being needed and the anguish of feeling this way. The song then really kicks into high gear around the two minute mark as the backing vocals powerfully howl an octave above the main line, bringing visceral and torment-laden images to the listener.
A great reflection of inner turbulence, ‘Gone’ is an impressive and exciting peek into what is to come ahead with their latest in a line of stunning records.
