Having found major success with their 2020 hit, ‘Michelle’, which has amassed almost 200 million streams on Spotify alone, Sir Chloe are certainly a force to be reckoned with – and their new single, ‘Hooves’, certainly solidifies their place as one of the most interesting up-and-coming bands of 2023.
Clocking in at under three minutes long, ‘Hooves’ is the explosive first look at the band’s debut album, I Am The Dog, set to come out in May, and if the album is anything like the single, fans of Sir Chloe will surely be counting down the days until its release. Produced by John Congleton (who’s produced for artists such as St Vincent, Angel Olsen, and Modest Mouse), ‘Hooves’ is an excellent indie-pop song – sort of reminiscent of the early-2000s, whilst remaining firmly on trend.
It feels like the perfect follow-up to the band’s viral EP Party Favors, which was released in 2020. It’s refreshing to see, really – so many bands that go viral on TikTok fail to deliver anything of substance after their initial fame (we won’t name any names, but you only need to look at this year’s Grammy awards for proof of this phenomenon). Sir Chloe are certainly not heading in that direction, with all their releases since ‘Michelle’ being solid pop tracks.
Sir Chloe has undeniably been doing big things in the years since their debut EP, including opening for Pixies (as in, the Pixies). Dana Foote, the band’s lead singer, was also featured in the campaign for Harry Styles’ Pleasing brand – you know, if you needed any more evidence that Sir Chloe are going to be huge. This song, however, should really speak for itself.
