Japanese punk legends Shonen Knife are heading south for a headline show at Falmouth’s Princess Pavilion tonight (19th April).

As part of a UK tour to celebrate the release of their new record ‘Adventure‘, the trio will shred, there is no other way to really describe it. Tickets are available here.

Support on the evening comes from Lost Dawn, hot off their own UK tour, and Planet Jazz, who are preparing their first EP to be released in the coming weeks. Stanley Duke, the frontman from Lost Dawn, had this to say about supporting the group:

I’d describe them as wonderfully Japanese in a way that only a Japanese band could be. There’s something in their culture that makes the quirky cool in a way that we don’t have. Over here it’s all very gloomy and blaze, it’s cool to be nonchalant. They have a wonderful childlike wonder with the way they write music, with hidden depths beneath the layers of technicolor. I think it’ll be a purely joyful performace with no whiff of pretence.

To celebrate Shonen Knife playing in town, local venues MONO & STEREO have been paying tribute to the group by having their own Japanese-themed week of parties, Film Screenings and Karaoke.
